Jonathon’s response to being asked if he was ready to be May’s Featured Pointster: “I was born ready!” It’s an attitude that serves him well at work: as a Senior Manager, Partner Relationships, he’s the first point of contact for our loyalty program partners, solving problems and celebrating successes. Outside of work, you might find him chasing his third hole-in-one on the golf course — or enjoying some quality couch time.

What’s your favorite thing about working at Points?

The “work hard, play hard” mentality. To say Points is a fast-paced work environment is a vast understatement, but the people here are wired that way. Even though everyone has a lot going on, it’s never a hard sell to make some time for fun with your colleagues.

What are you working on right now?

In anticipation of this feature going viral, unfortunately I can’t tell you, as I have signed NDAs with my partners.

What’s one thing people probably don’t know about your job?

It’s a balancing act. I’ve become very good at delivering the good news along with the not-so-good news.

What’s your favorite place to eat near the Toronto office?

Lucky Red. This is more of a sit-down place that is owned by the same people that own Banh Mi Boys (also a favorite). Great variety of Vietnamese style cuisine, but the Ham Bao Ger is a must-have.

What is the best trip you’ve ever taken?

Definitely my honeymoon. My wife Chantelle and I went to Hong Kong and made two stops in Thailand (Chiang Mai and Koh Tao) over three weeks. We rode elephants, got our open water scuba diving certification, travelled by moped as much as possible, and had amazing food and drinks, while taking in some absolutely breathtaking sights. Definitely a trip we’ll never forget and it’ll be tough to top, but we’re up for the challenge!

Tell us something surprising about yourself.

I’ve had two holes- in-one… so far. One when I was 12 years old (125 yards with a 6-iron), and one when I was 20 (150 yards with a pitching wedge). I remember them both like they happened yesterday.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island, what three movies would you bring?

Dumb and Dumber, Tin Cup, and The Shawshank Redemption.

If you could eat or drink one thing endlessly without any negative consequences, what would it be?

Burgers with all the fixings. I’m a sucker for a quality burger and can be found trying new ones at various establishments in the city during my weak moments.

What makes Points different from other companies you’ve worked at?

People are up for stuff. Whether it’s figuring out a work-related problem, raising money for a good cause or eating great food together, there are always an overwhelming amount of people up for it. Love that about Points.

Describe your favorite pair of shoes.

I have lots of favorites. My wife would be the first to say that I have too many shoes for a guy.

And last but not least, what’s your favorite way to spend a Friday night?

Pizza, movie, couch, track pants. Glamorous, I know 😉
