While Cara Sanna has only been at Points for 2 years, she can speak about the business as if she’s been here a lifetime.  As this edition’s ‘Featured Pointster,’ Cara’s expertise in Business Development is in full display.  Her ability to relate to everyone around her while staying focused in growing the cutting-edge Points Business Solutions makes her a marvel of modern multi-tasking!  You can always tell that Cara is around due to her infectious laugh and propensity to wear safety green.  Check out what she has to say about herself below:

What is your role at Points?

I am on the Business Development team. My role is to re-sell our Partners’ loyalty currencies to businesses/merchants/brands that want to utilize airline miles & hotel points as their own incentive program.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise people:

I grew up in Red Lake located in Northwestern Ontario. The drive from the Points office is approximately 22 hours – or the same distance to drive to Florida! My summer job while in university was as a mechanic’s assistant / welder’s assistant at the gold mine. I fixed underground locomotive brakes, welded manhole covers, and so much more.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Points?

Unlike massive organizations, you really feel like you contribute to the end goal at Points. You have the opportunity to actually see how your work is helping grow the business.

Are there any projects you’re working on right now that you can tell us about?

Soon you will be able to find more retailers, merchants, independent hotels, and non-travel brands across the US offering airline and hotel miles/points for shopping with them. Many of those opportunities to earn more miles/points stemmed from conversations and negotiations from me and the rest of the Business Development team.

What’s the best tip you have for getting the most of points/miles?

Select one or two favorite programs and put everything into them. Instead of spreading your loyalty wealth across multiple programs – consolidate. And always take advantage of promotions and special offers!

What one thing can you not live without?

My iPhone. Seriously. How did we live before these things?

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island with a DVD player (that’s right, no wifi), what three movies would you bring?

Tommy BoyWeekend at Bernie’s, & The Truman Show

If you could eat or drink one thing endlessly without any negative consequences, what would it be?

Cheese. Definitely cheese. Cottage Cheese. Brie Cheese. Smelly Cheese. I don’t discriminate against my cheeses!

What’s your greatest weakness?

A great charcuterie board with a glass of red. Who can say no to that??

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy golfing in the summer and curling in the winter. I’m like a senior citizen in training!

What is the best trip you’ve ever taken?

I love Iceland and would recommend it to anyone. Last spring I did a drive through the West Fjords and it was beautiful! There was even a small fishing village that happened to be hosting a music festival and people from villages miles away all came to watch the bands.
