Going on three years as Director, Partner Relationships, Ian is also a doting dad with a “work hard, play hard” mentality that’s a perfect fit with our company culture. While he spends his working hours using his creativity to nurture long-term strategic partnerships, outside the office you’ll probably find him listening to one of his eclectic playlists, or making music himself. Read on to find out more about Ian!

What’s your favorite thing about working at Points?

Most definitely the people and the culture. It’s a special place where we work hard, play hard and do really meaningful work with some of the best brands in the world.

What are you working on right now?

We’re implementing some really innovative ideas on the partners I support, from interesting product development to data-driven member engagement strategies. Every day is something new!

What makes Points different from other companies you’ve worked at?

Other than our culture, I’d say our overall goal alignment. We rise and fall together working against a common mission, and that creates a tremendous level of personal ownership and accountability across the organization.

What’s your favorite place to eat near the Toronto office?

The Queen Mother. Their ping gai is over-the-top good — extra sauce!

What’s the best thing you’ve ever done with loyalty points/miles?

The trip I took this year to Ireland. I flew on Aeroplan miles and stayed at the Dublin Hilton on points.

What is one thing you can’t live without?

Since my 6-year-old son Ben isn’t technically a “thing”, I’d have to say my piano!

What’s your greatest weakness?

Cheesy ‘80s ballads.

Tell us something surprising about yourself.

I spent 5 years in the military as a Combat Engineer, where I built bridges and was trained to handle explosives.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island, what three movies would you bring?

Almost Famous, Tommy Boy and Stand by Me.

If you could eat or drink one thing endlessly without any negative consequences, what would it be?

Jamaican Crab Bisque soup from Soup Nutsy…it’s already part of my daily routine.

What’s your favorite way to spend a Friday night?

Jamming with my buddies or gigging with my band — anything that involves playing music.

And finally, describe your favorite pair of shoes.

Without a doubt, my platform disco shoes with goldfish swimming in the heels.
